"Jesus is God?"

Okay Kristen, I am doing it. I don't really know why anyone would want to read about my day, but I know that I enjoy my life, so maybe you guys will get some good laughs along the way. This morning I got out of bed at 6:00 am to the sound of Ian crying in his crib.....I am just kidding. I know you don't want to hear about that kind of stuff. So.....how about this...today while I was fixing Asher's lunch he asked me "How many gods are there?". I quickly put down the spoon in hand and went over too him. I explained that there is only one God. Asher, "Then how can He live my heart and your heart and Baby Ian's heart?" I then went on to explain that God can be every where all at the same time because he is not just a simple human like us. Asher, "Then who is the man with the gray beard?" I knew he must be referring to Jesus so I explained as best I could to a three year old that God wanted to be just like us and live on Earth for just a little while so he made himself into a person for a little while. Asher, "So....there is only one God and Jesus is God?".

I am so amazed at his precious little mind. I have mentioned to my bible study ladies that one of my biggest desires is to finish college and get a degree, but there could not possibly be a better job in all the world than being here with my little boy!

I hope this can come as an encouragement to all of you, as it was for me. I was reminded that his mind is just waiting to be filled and I want to be sure it is filled with the best stuff possible. I am so blessed to be able to have these conversations with him and see him begin to grasp with "childlike faith" what even adults have a hard time taking in.

  3. Kristen, I knew you would be excited! I thought about doing a project, like a picture a day of the boys or something like that to keep me entertained.

  4. Greetings Hope

It is so wonderful to train up a child in the way of the Lord.
Simply wonderful, especially in light of Deut 6.4-7.

(Deu 6:4-7) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Jesus himself was taught the above creed.
And the man Christ Jesus declared:
(John 17:1) These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, ...
(John 17:3) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

    Jesus solely identifies his Father
    as the only true GOD.
This is what the early church believed
(and Christ's church ought to believe the same today!) That is:
(1 Cor 8:4) ... that there is none other God but one.
(1 Cor 8:6) But TO US there is but one God, the Father, ...
So, the early church concurred with their Lord & Master.
    Also, Numbers 23.19 declares:
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

With all due respect, Hope; & IMHO,
this is what you ought to teach Asher:

That there is one GOD, who cannot be seen,
is not a man, but is Spirit
    [John 4.24]
This one GOD is the Father &
He is the only true GOD.

Whilst Jesus is His Son and he is a man
    [Acts 2.22, 1 Tim. 2.5]

A three-year old can far easily understand this; besides this is what the Bible teaches!

    Dear Hope, GOD did not make himself into a person for a little while;
rather GOD gave His Son, His human Son,
    Jesus of Nazareth.
    [John 3.16]
And the ONE GOD, the Father,
dwelt in His Son, the man Christ Jesus.
    [John 14.10-11, 2 Cor 5.19]

Take a couple of hours to watch it; and prayerfully it will aid you in your understanding; which in turn will aid the rest of your family, GOD Willing.

  5. Wow, I just read what Adam Pastor wrote. I do not know him, and it is obvious he does not know me. I am very grateful and impressed with his desire to pass the message of God to all.

Adam Pastor, thank you so much for your time. I wanted to make it clear that I understand 100% about the Trinity. I know it wasn't as simple as "God making himself into a person". I just felt it would be better understood by a three year old that way. Jesus was fully God, so I do not feel that description is misleading for a child. I am sure I could have explained it better to him. As a family we discuss God and Jesus on a daily basis. I will take the next opportunity to make sure he understands completely. Once again, thank you for your time. It is always amazing and such a blessing to know that there are people like you out there who want to be sure the true message of God is being shared. I hope you have a great day.
